The New York Times

I worked with The New York Times in 2010 and 2011 overseeing design on the initial releases of their flagship Android and Windows Phone applications. Mercury designed both applications and turned the apps over to NYT to manage internally after initial development.

NYTimes Android was released as a launch partner for the Google Nexus One in 2010 and received heavy promotion from Google in the Play Store. Google also produced a video for the launch highlighting the features and functionality of the app. Android users and the press praised the app as a clean, polished way to read NYT's award-winning content.

NYTimes Windows Phone mimicked the content and structure of NYT's existing iOS and Android apps, while leveraging Windows Phone's unique side-scrolling navigation. Released in 2011, the app's clean design  leverages The New York Time's familiar typography and incorporates touches of red to subtly highlight breaking news and recently updated stories.
